At Acorn ("we", "platform", or "Acorn"), we respect the privacy of our users ("you", "student", "teacher", or "creator"). This document explains what information we collect from you, how we use it, and who has access to this data.

1. Information We Collect

To provide an interactive and smart educational experience, we collect the following information:

  • Account Information: Phone number, email address, first and last name, grade level, school name, city, province, and profile picture (avatar).
  • Interactive and Educational Data (Telemetry & Analytics): Due to the educational nature of Acorn, we record your behavior on the platform. This includes quiz scores, survey responses, time spent on Journeys, and activities in simulation environments (LbD and Metaverse).
  • Proctoring and Focus Mode Data: During exams or "Focus Mode" sessions, our system checks the focus status of your browser tab. Tab-switching is recorded and may be reported as a violation to the Workspace Admin or teacher.
  • Communication and Multimedia Data: Text messages in chats (group and direct), notes, whiteboard content, as well as your microphone and camera on/off status in live sessions (LiveKit). Files uploaded by you are stored on our MinIO servers.
  • AI Data: The history of your conversations with AI assistants (Sensei and Ostad) and the images you upload for problem-solving are collected for processing.
  • Financial Information: The history of your ACoin or marketplace purchases. (Note: Your sensitive bank card information is processed directly by the Zarinpal payment gateway and is not stored on our servers).

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

  • Basic Services: For your entry into classes, syncing your position on the Metaverse map, and running live sessions.
  • Gamification and Platform Economy: Calculating Experience Points (XP), allocating Badges, managing the Oxygen Tree (Garden System), and managing your ACoin wallet.
  • Analytics and Reporting for Teachers: Providing Monitor Dashboards to teachers and administrators to review your engagement, attendance, and academic performance.
  • AI Processing: Sending your requests to AI engines (such as GapGPT, ArvanCloud, or Gemini) to receive educational answers, generate quizzes, and correct answers.
  • Security and Moderation: Reviewing violation reports (Report Post), identifying malicious behavior, and enforcing bans by platform admins.

3. Sharing Information

We do not sell your information to third parties. However, your information is shared in the following cases:

  • Workspace Admins and Teachers: Users who have the role of admin or teacher in a room or workspace can view detailed reports of your performance, chat history, quiz answers, and your browser tab exit alerts.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: We use external services to run the platform (such as LiveKit infrastructure for video, AI engines for text processing, and Zarinpal for payment). These services only have access to the data necessary to perform their duties.
  • Other Users: Your name, avatar, pinned badges, and public content (such as posts and marketplace items) are visible to other users.
  • Legal Requirements: In case of a request from competent judicial authorities, the required information will be provided.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and tokens (JWT) for authentication, maintaining user sessions, and syncing state (e.g., ACoin balance across different tabs via BroadcastChannel). Our platform supports a Cookie Consent banner in accordance with privacy standards.

5. Your Rights

  • View and edit your profile information.
  • Request to leave workspaces or delete your account history.
  • Request to download your data by contacting support.

6. Data Security

We use encryption protocols, secure tokens, and isolated cloud infrastructures to protect your data. However, no data transmission system on the internet is 100% secure, and you must also protect your password/OTP.
